Getting there

Arriving by car

Punat is located on the Croatian island of Krk. Krk is connected to the mainland by a bridge, so you can reach the charter base directly by car without needing a ferry crossing. For crews travelling from Germany, Austria and other Central European countries in particular, arriving by car is a straightforward way to bring luggage, personal equipment and provisions directly to the marina. The distance from Munich is approximately 550 kilometres.

Parking for charter guests is available in and around Marina Punat. Particularly convenient are the spaces near our pontoon, as luggage and equipment can be brought to the yacht from there with comparatively little effort. There is also free parking available outside the marina.

Arriving by air

The nearest airport is Rijeka, which is also located on the island of Krk, around 33 kilometres from Marina Punat. For charter guests, a transfer from Rijeka Airport to the base can be arranged in advance. The transfer costs €70 for up to four people. Each additional person is charged at €15, and transfers are available for groups of up to eight people in total.

The process is simple. After landing in Rijeka, you travel to Punat using your pre arranged transfer. Once you arrive at the marina, you can make your way to the base and then to your charter yacht. Provisioning and a meal before yacht handover can be taken care of directly within the marina.

Arrival at Marina Punat

Marina Punat offers comprehensive facilities for your arrival day. Parking, the charter pontoon, sanitary facilities, restaurants and shopping options are all located within the marina. Distances within the harbour area are manageable, even if not every facility is right next to one another.

A modern sanitary building is available for showers and washroom visits. In addition, there is a floating sanitary unit near the charter pontoon. The pontoons themselves are solid and wide. This means there are no unusually long walks between the pontoon office, berth, waste disposal area and sanitary facilities, although you should still allow for some walking within the marina.

Provisioning and yacht handover

Shopping before your voyage

For your first provisions, there is no need to leave Marina Punat. A supermarket is located directly within the marina, where you can buy food, drinks and other essentials for your voyage. The marina’s shopping facilities also include, or have included, a butcher and a bakery.

If you are planning a larger shop, you will find additional supermarkets before reaching, or outside, Punat. These shopping options also include a Lidl. If you are arriving by car, it is therefore easy to complete a more substantial shop before yacht handover. For smaller top ups and any last minute essentials, the supermarket within the marina is the most convenient option.

Infrastructure in the marina

Marina Punat is equipped so that you can take care of many practical arrangements related to arrival, yacht handover and return directly in the harbour. Restaurants, bars and cafés are ideal if you still have time between arrival and check in, or if you would prefer not to leave immediately after your voyage. Cash machines and reception are also located within the marina.

For charter crews, the sanitary facilities are especially important. Alongside a modern sanitary building, a floating sanitary unit is available near our charter pontoon. Power and water connections are provided at the berths. The marina also features a pool and wellness area, which can make your stay before or after your sailing holiday even more enjoyable.

The marina is set in a very well sheltered bay. The water in the bay is clean and the grounds are well maintained. Marina Punat therefore offers not only the essential infrastructure for a yacht charter from Krk, but also a pleasant setting for your time before departure and after your return.

Yacht handover from 16:00

The standard check in time for your charter yacht in Punat is 16:00. Before handover, the yacht is prepared for the new crew. For this reason, handover can only take place once this work has been completed in full. Please plan your arrival so that you are not dependent on the yacht being ready earlier.

If you arrive in Punat before 16:00, you can make good use of the time. Provisioning can be done either in the marina or at the larger supermarkets outside Punat. Alternatively, you can enjoy a meal in a restaurant or café, explore the marina, or plan the first days of your voyage and possible destinations in Kvarner Bay together with your crew.

Relaxation and surroundings

Punat is located in the southwest of the island of Krk. For charter guests, the town is not only the starting point for sailing from Punat, but also a practical place to spend some time ashore before or after the voyage. Around Punat, you will find beaches, walking trails, local restaurants and a variety of activities on and by the water.

Restaurants and time ashore in Punat

If you arrive early on the day of travel or head to Krk the evening before, you will find places to eat and relax both within the marina and in the town itself. Restaurants, bars and cafés in the marina are easily reached without any additional travel. In the harbour town of Punat, you will find further dining options for an evening before your voyage or a few relaxed hours after your return.

This also makes it easy to fill the time before standard yacht handover at 16:00. You can begin with provisioning, then enjoy a meal, and return to the charter pontoon once your yacht has been fully prepared.

Beaches and leisure activities around Punat

There are beaches and walking trails around Punat, along with opportunities for activities on and by the water. This also makes the area well suited to crews who would like to combine their journey with some additional time on Krk, or who prefer not to continue their onward travel immediately after the voyage.

The marina as a place to stay

You do not necessarily need to leave the marina in order to enjoy a comfortable stay. Alongside restaurants, bars and cafés, there are modern sanitary facilities as well as pool and wellness amenities. This is especially convenient if you still have time before yacht handover or would like to bridge a few hours between your return and departure.

Marina Punat is located in a very well sheltered bay. At the beginning of a yacht charter in Croatia, this means your crew can start the journey in a protected harbour setting before heading out into Kvarner Bay and among the Croatian islands. Your voyage also ends in this sheltered location when you return.

Sailing routes from Punat

Located in the southwest of Krk, Punat is a highly versatile starting point for a yacht charter in Croatia. From here, Kvarner Bay opens up with islands and cruising grounds around Krk, Rab, Cres, Lošinj, Pag, Ilovik and Olib. On longer voyages, your cruising range can extend as far as the Kornati Islands. The Istrian coast is also a possible direction for your route. Which itinerary best suits your crew depends above all on the time available, your preferred balance of sailing and time ashore, and your day to day passage planning.

A relaxed week from Punat

For a one week itinerary with moderate distances, a route through the southern part of Kvarner Bay and as far as the Olib area is a very good option. This suggested itinerary covers approximately 100 nautical miles. Such a plan leaves more room to combine individual legs with time in harbours, bays or ashore, rather than trying to cover as many miles as possible in a single week. It is therefore well suited to crews who want to get to know the cruising area and combine enjoyable sailing days with ample time for a holiday on board.

A more active week from Punat

If you would like to include a greater proportion of sailing within one week, you can use the more active option of approximately 135 nautical miles as a guide. The character of this itinerary lies in a more energetic week, with a mixture of harbours, bays and anchorages. Compared with the more relaxed route, more nautical miles are planned within the same holiday period. This option is therefore aimed at crews who would like their week to be shaped more strongly by sailing and by more frequent changes of location.

Two weeks from Punat to the Kornati Islands

With two weeks of charter time, the cruising area expands considerably. The corresponding itinerary covers approximately 280 nautical miles and leads from Punat to the Kornati Islands. The additional week gives you greater scope for a wider cruising radius and for combining Kvarner Bay with areas farther south in the Croatian islands. Punat is therefore suited both to a one week cruise in the nearby area and to serving as the departure port for a longer Croatian sailing holiday.

The cruising area around Punat

Even within Kvarner Bay itself, a variety of islands, harbours, bays and anchorages can be included in your route planning from Punat. Destinations around Rab, Cres, Lošinj, Pag and Ilovik allow for different directions and styles of itinerary without prescribing one fixed route. The suggested routes mentioned here are intended as guidance for the general scale and possible focus of a one or two week voyage.

The marina’s very well sheltered location is practical both at the beginning of your trip and on your return. From here, you head straight into a cruising area that lends itself to both shorter and longer itinerary concepts. Your final route should always suit the time available, your crew and the conditions during your charter period.
