Arrival and parking
If you arrive at Palma Airport, you can travel directly to Marina Naviera Balear by one of the many taxis available, or you may prefer to book an Uber. Simply give your driver Marina Naviera Balear as your destination.
If you are arriving by car, the car park directly opposite the marina is convenient at least for unloading your luggage. As parking availability in Palma is generally limited, we also recommend this car park for the duration of your sailing holiday.
Next to the marina’s main entrance gate, there is a door that is usually unlocked. Once inside the marina, continue straight ahead to the pontoon.
Provisions and yacht handover
Marina Naviera Balear is located on Palma’s waterfront promenade. The surrounding area offers restaurants, hotels, and shops. If you are planning a larger provisioning shop, it is worth preparing carefully. Check opening hours, transport options, and the earliest point at which chilled items can be stored on board.
Arriving at the correct pontoon
Please report to the reception desk directly on the charter pontoon. There is no separate pontoon office here. The team will release your yacht once preparation and inspection have been completed. If there is still a short wait, a waiting area is available within the marina. During handover, review the inventory and the systems that are important for your voyage. Make a joint note of any irregularities and confirm whom to contact underway if any technical questions arise.
Discuss the return before departure
At the marina, mobile fuel pumps can be connected directly on the pontoon. Our team will refuel your yacht right there at the berth after your return. Please allow sufficient time for your return approach, refuelling, and mooring.
Sailing routes from Palma
Once you leave the harbour of Palma, you enter the Bay of Palma. Even for the first leg, you can choose whether to explore the bay or continue along the coastline. Wind, sea state, daylight, and the time of your yacht handover will all influence that decision. It is best to plan your route back to base from the very beginning.
Staying within the Bay of Palma
A shorter passage within the bay gives you time to become familiar with the yacht. To the west of Palma lies the coastline around Ses Illetes, while on the opposite side you will find Can Pastilla and Cala Blava.
Heading west along the southwest coast
If you have more time, you may continue west out of the bay towards Port d’Andratx. This route takes in very different stretches of coastline compared with a short cruise within the bay. Set clear intermediate stops and alternatives for the return passage before a more distant destination becomes a fixed part of your plans.
Heading southeast along Mallorca’s coastline
On the eastern side of the bay, route planning leads beyond Cala Blava towards Cala Pi and onward along the south coast. For longer voyages, additional legs around the island may also be considered. Review every approach, possible berths, and the rules that apply in bays and protected areas using the latest nautical information available on board.
Palma ashore
A stay in Palma can easily be combined with time in the city before handover or after your return. From the marina, the famous Paseo Marítimo runs along the harbour. If you would like to explore the old town and La Seu Cathedral, it is best to set aside dedicated time for both.
Spending one or more days in the marina is well worth it if you would like to experience Palma at a relaxed pace. Make the most of your floating hotel as a base for discovering the many sights of this historic city, enjoying some of the local restaurants, and experiencing Palma’s vibrant nightlife.
If you would prefer to start closer to the beach, our base in Can Pastilla may be the better choice for you.
Equipment and documents
Before you travel, check the details of your booked yacht carefully: what equipment is on board, which personal items you need to bring, and which requests should be agreed with the team in advance. If children are sailing with you, arrange suitable life jackets in good time. Divide shopping tasks in a way that allows the relevant crew members to be present during handover.
After handover, compare your planned first leg with the marine weather forecast, available daylight, and the condition of the crew. After a late arrival, spending the first night in the departure harbour may be the wiser option. A well rested crew will always enjoy a better start to the sailing holiday the following day.
