Getting to the Can Pastilla charter base
Palma de Mallorca Airport is only around ten minutes from our charter base in Can Pastilla. For the direct journey to the marina, a taxi or Uber is the most convenient option. A taxi ride generally costs around 15 to 20 euros, depending on the time of day, traffic and the applicable fares. If you take a taxi from the airport, we recommend using the official taxi rank outside the terminal.
Destination for taxi and ride service
Your destination is Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa in Can Pastilla. Taxis can generally drive onto the marina grounds and close to our pontoon. Occasionally, individual drivers prefer to stop at the entrance. In that case, the remaining distance through the marina must be covered on foot.
From the marina entrance to our pontoon
After passing through the entrance gate, keep to the left. Our pontoon and the First Class Sailing yachts are located in the rear section of the marina. This means you do not have to carry your luggage unnecessarily through the entire harbour if the taxi is able to enter the grounds.
Arrive, leave your luggage and relax
Luggage can be unloaded at the base and stored until your yacht is ready. This means you do not need to keep your suitcases and bags with you throughout the waiting time. Especially after an early flight, this makes it easy to use the time before yacht handover for some initial shopping, a coffee or a walk along Playa de Palma.
Provisions and yacht handover
In Can Pastilla, you have several options for provisioning. The most convenient is to place your order before the charter through our First Class Sailing provisioning shop. This allows you to organise much of your shopping before your trip, and you do not need to carry heavy drinks or larger supplies yourself from the supermarket to the yacht.
Shopping around the marina
If you prefer to shop in person or only need a few additional items, you will find several small supermarkets within a few minutes’ walk in Can Pastilla. A small kiosk is located just a few metres outside the marina grounds. Restaurants, cafés and other shops are also close to the base.
If your yacht is still being prepared
There is a waiting area in front of our pontoon office, and individual drinks can be purchased on site. The time until handover can also be used for provisioning or for a short visit to the beach and promenade.
When can the yacht be taken over?
The binding handover time is the one stated in your booking or in the base information. An earlier handover may be possible if the yacht has already been fully prepared, but this cannot be guaranteed. After a previous charter, our team needs time for cleaning, technical checks, minor repairs and preparing the yacht for the next crew.
Our web app will notify you as soon as your yacht is ready for handover. This means you do not need to keep asking at the pontoon and can use the waiting time as you wish. Especially if you arrive early, we recommend planning your shopping and other errands for this period.
Check in videos for your yacht
Dedicated check in videos are available for many of our yachts in Can Pastilla. They explain important functions and specific features of the respective yacht. This gives you a useful overview before you arrive and allows you to ask more targeted questions during the later handover.
Where can you find your yacht’s video?
You will find the link to the relevant check in video on the yacht data sheet in the base information provided before your charter. We recommend watching the video at home or, at the latest, before yacht handover.
The video does not replace the personal handover on the pontoon. It does, however, help you become familiar with the yacht in advance and makes it easier to recognise key procedures later on.
Returning to Can Pastilla and refuelling
At the end of your trip, please allow enough time for refuelling. The fuel station is located directly at the harbour entrance to Can Pastilla, making it conveniently positioned on the way back to your berth. Payment by credit card is possible.
After refuelling, we are happy to take over if you wish
The marina in Can Pastilla is compact, but the inner area is narrow. This is especially noticeable when manoeuvring larger sailing yachts and catamarans. If you would prefer to avoid making the return through the harbour or the berthing manoeuvre more demanding than necessary, our team can take the yacht from the fuel station back to the berth and moor her for you.
Please feel free to make use of this service. Even experienced crews are often happy to hand the yacht over to our team at the fuel station. For us, this is part of the normal charter process in Can Pastilla and saves you one final demanding harbour manoeuvre at the end of your trip.
Beach, Palma and the surroundings of Can Pastilla
The location of the charter base is exceptionally convenient on land as well. Playa de Palma begins directly beside the marina and stretches for kilometres towards S'Arenal. For swimming, we recommend walking a few minutes along the beach. A little farther from the harbour entrance, the setting is more pleasant for bathing.
Restaurants, cafés and the promenade
Around the marina, you will find numerous restaurants, cafés and bars. The seafront promenade is ideal for a walk, a run or simply passing the time between arrival and yacht handover. Anyone spending an evening in Can Pastilla before or after the trip will not need a car.
Cycle to Palma
A particularly enjoyable excursion is a bike ride to Palma. The route runs largely along the waterfront. From Can Pastilla, you can reach the city centre in around half an hour, depending on your pace. One especially worthwhile destination is the Cathedral of Mallorca, La Seu, directly by Parc de la Mar. Bicycles can be rented from various providers in Can Pastilla.
Palma Aquarium with children
The Palma Aquarium is also located along Playa de Palma and can be reached quickly from Can Pastilla. It explores marine life from a variety of habitats and is particularly well suited to families if there is still time to spend in Mallorca before or after the charter.
Evening entertainment at Playa de Palma
If you would like to enjoy some nightlife after sailing, the well known entertainment district around Schinkenstraße can also be reached along the promenade. Bierkönig, Megapark and other venues are around four kilometres from the marina. In suitable weather, the outward journey can easily be done on foot along the promenade, while a taxi or Uber back to the yacht is the more comfortable choice at night.
Sailing routes from Can Pastilla
From Can Pastilla, you can plan your Mallorca sailing trip in many different ways. The existing route suggestions range from a relaxed week with short passages to a two week Balearic cruise with longer offshore stretches. Which route is truly suitable always depends on the weather, the crew, the yacht and the available time reserve.
One relaxed week along Mallorca’s south coast
For crews who are not aiming to cover as many nautical miles as possible, a week along Mallorca’s south coast is an excellent choice. Our suggested route covers around 108 nautical miles and focuses on short passages, sheltered bays and Cabrera as a particular highlight. This leaves more time for swimming, anchoring and going ashore. Navigation within the Cabrera National Park and overnight stays on a mooring buoy are subject to permit and reservation rules that must be observed in advance.
One active week: circumnavigating Mallorca or sailing to Menorca
If you would like to do considerably more sailing in seven days, there are two very different options. A more active circumnavigation of Mallorca comes to around 190 nautical miles according to our route suggestion. This allows you to experience not only the sheltered south coast, but also the completely different scenery of the island’s west and north coasts. An even more ambitious alternative covers around 200 nautical miles to Menorca and back. Here, the emphasis is on longer passages and more time at sea.
Two weeks with more time for Menorca and Cabrera
With a two week charter, the cruising ground can be explored at a much more relaxed pace. One of our suggested routes combines Mallorca with Menorca, as well as the smaller islands of Dragonera and Cabrera, over approximately 265 nautical miles. The additional time creates a useful buffer for weather changes and allows for more stops in bays and harbours without the need to cover a long distance every day.
Two weeks through the Balearics
For crews who are deliberately seeking longer passages, the cruising area extends well beyond Mallorca. Our extended Balearic route covers around 420 nautical miles and links Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, as well as Cabrera and Dragonera. This itinerary includes medium and long passages, harbour stays, bays and more substantial crossings. For this option, both crew and skipper should have sufficient experience for several more demanding days at sea and for flexible weather planning.
The distances mentioned are taken from our existing route suggestions and are intended for guidance only. They do not constitute a fixed passage plan. Wind, sea state, berth availability and the interests of the crew should always determine how far the next leg will actually take you.
